No vote on Afghanistan mission
April 5, 2006
OTTAWA (CP) - Members of Parliament will debate Canada's role in Afghanistan next Monday, but the debate will carry little weight.
The Prime Minister's Office says the Conservative government has agreed to opposition demands to discuss the mission in the House of Commons. But there will not be a vote on the mission - the so-called "take-note" debate will simply let politicians express their views.
The former Liberal government held a similar debate on the Afghanistan mission prior to the last election.
