Minister of Indian Affairs and Northern Development Andy Scott today called on Conservative leader Stephen Harper to publicly retract allegations he made in respect of contracting practice at Indian Affairs. The false allegations were made at press conference January 3, 2006 and are contained in a press release dated the same day that is currently posted on the Conservative web site.
A CBC National Reality Check has conclusively demonstrated that that these allegations are not only false, but that the information was readily available had the Conservative simply asked for it. The documents that were available to Mr. Harper can be found here.
In a letter to Mr. Harper, the text of which his attached, Mr. Scott calls on Harper to "do the honourable thing and retract (the allegations) as well as remove or edit the offending news release."
