US bows to kidnappers
BAGHDAD: The US military released five Iraqi women yesterday, a demand sought by militants holding a kidnapped American journalist. US officials said the releases were routine and not related to the kidnapping. "We have released 419 detainees today including five women," a spokesman for the US detention facilities in Iraq said. The women were freed from US custody afternoon and delivered to the home of a senior Sunni Arab politician in Baghdad, where they were returned to their families, according to a Press photographer at the scene.
