Saddam trial judge sentenced to life in jail in absentia
February 1, 2006
According to sources within the Jordanian group of lawyers defending Saddam Hussein at the alleged Dujail massacre trials in Baghdad, presiding judge Rauf Rashid Abd al-Rahman had been formerly sentenced in absentia to a life sentence by the Baathist government.
Lawyers for the ousted president have filed a motion to have the judge replaced citing obvious bias and zealotry against his former adjudicators.
He has a biased agenda and he is setting it, the lawyers set.
Just the latest in what has become a farce and mockery of justice.
