Duceppe's brother to run for the Parti Quebecois in Joliette
Feb 19
MONTREAL (CP) - The name of the Parti Quebecois's new star candidate has a familiar ring to it.
Bloc Quebecois Leader Gilles Duceppe's brother Claude announced Sunday that he will run for the sovereigntist party in the riding of Joliette, a PQ stronghold north of Montreal.
Claude Duceppe hopes to succeed PQ incumbent Jonathan Valois, who is not running due to personal reasons.
Gilles Duceppe said he did not pressure his brother to become a candidate.
Claude Duceppe has worked as a PQ insider for several years.
Liberal Premier Jean Charest is widely expected to make an election call this week.
