Manitoba MP apologizes for anti-Harper diatribe
April 3, 2007 The Globe&Mail
Winnipeg -- A Manitoba MP has apologized after his office sent copies of a letter from one of his constituents that calls Prime Minister Stephen Harper "our own Canadian Hitler."
In a report from Ottawa, the Winnipeg Free Press reported Conservative MP Inky Mark said it was an honest mistake.
"Local staff made that decision which should not have happened without them running it by me," Mr. Mark said.
The letter was from farmer Elmer Ryan, who is angry at what he sees as the government's plans to abolish the Canadian Wheat Board.
Mr. Mark said he didn't even see the letter and had no part in sending it out. He has sent out an apology letter to MPs.
