military suicides
if you do a search, there are many stories regarding the numbers of american soldiers who have committed suicide in iraq. though, we often don't hear about them in our mainstream newspapers, and apparently they are often listed a 'non-hostile' deaths within the military listing of casualties ...
i can't confirm this, but here is something that was passed along to me:
A US soldier kills himself in front of a group of primary school kids near Falluja!
Fadhil Badrane - Al Moharer
A US broken down and deeply depressed US soldier has gone beyond the unthinkable and made the ultimate move shooting himself in front of a group of a primary school children near the city of Falluja.
Palestine primary school head master in the Al Karma Falluja neighborhood confirmed that a US homesick soldier has directed his personal rifle against his temple committing a suicide in public.
The headmaster added that the US nostalgic soldier was normally talking to the primary school kids got from his pocket a wallet with the photos of his children and wife smiled and then had his eyes flowing with tears and started to cry and scream: "Where are my children! Where is Michael..!" All of a sudden, said the Palestine school head master, the US soldier asked the children to move away and bullets hitting his skull were heard killing him at once.
so i went to U.S. Casualties in Operation Iraqi Freedom February 2005 , i can only see one for around this time period listed as non-battle. could be, could be not ... either way the numbers of u.s. military suicides are extremly high.
